I am ready to concede defeat if they beat me fair and square - Nambi

Faridah Nambi, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate for the Kawempe North by-election, has expressed her willingness to concede defeat if the election results are determined fairly and transparently.

"I am ready to concede defeat if they beat me fair and square," Nambi said.
Nambi’s comments come amid allegations of electoral malpractice that have overshadowed the Kawempe North by-election, with candidates from different parties accusing each other of vote-buying and intimidation.
Despite these claims, Nambi has remained focused on the importance of a fair election process.
The election, which was supposed to begin at 7:00 AM, has faced challenges, including delays in the distribution of voting materials to some polling stations.
Voters at several locations reported technical failures, affecting the smooth running of the election.
The seat became vacant following the death of MP Muhammad Ssegirinya on January 9.
Ssegirinya, who won the constituency for NUP in the 2021 general election, had made it a stronghold for the opposition.
Voting will end at 4:00 PM.
