The Commander of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) 4 Infantry Division, Maj Gen Felix Busizoori, has cautioned newly appointed brigade commanders against complacency, emphasising that their new roles demand heightened accountability and commitment to discipline.

“As the monkey climbs higher on the tree, the more it exposes its behind. So, we are watching wherever you are deployed,” he warned, urging commanders to uphold the UPDF’s values of discipline, teamwork, and community engagement.
The reshuffle saw Col David Mululi Byaruhanga assume command of the 409 Brigade in Bondo, Arua District, while Col Nathan Bainomugisha took over leadership of the 501 Brigade in Palaro, Amuru District.
Maj Gen Busizoori stressed that as the country approaches a politically charged period, military leaders must remain neutral, adaptable, and committed to securing Uganda’s porous borders against emerging threats such as smuggling.
“These challenges cannot be solved overnight, but persistence and collaboration with the public will be key in achieving our security objectives,” he stated.
The event was attended by senior UPDF officers, including Brig Gen Jackson Kayanja, the 4 Infantry Division Deputy Commander, along with battalion commanders and brigade staff.
