Minister Musasizi Assures Peaceful Elections in Rubanda District in 2026

State Minister for Finance, Henry Musasizi, has reassured residents of Rubanda District of a peaceful and non-violent electoral process in 2026.

Speaking at the induction ceremony of Rev. Dickson Turyamureba as the parish priest of St. Andrews Kateretere Church of Uganda, Minister Musasizi emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring a stable and secure electoral process.

He urged the community to maintain unity and avoid divisions that could lead to conflict during the upcoming elections.

“With only a few months remaining until the elections, I assure you that this will be a peaceful process. Everyone will have the opportunity to campaign and present their ideas to the electorate, allowing them to freely choose their preferred candidates,” Minister Musasizi said.

He also called upon religious leaders to actively promote peace and educate their congregations on the importance of tolerance and respect for diverse political views.

He noted that the church plays a critical role in fostering harmony and guiding Christians toward responsible civic engagement.

Minister Musasizi encouraged residents to embrace government programs aimed at poverty eradication, particularly the Parish Development Model (PDM), which he described as a key driver of economic empowerment.

He urged religious leaders to support these programs by educating their communities on the benefits of financial independence and self-sustainability.

With political tensions often rising during election periods, Minister Musasizi’s assurance of a non-violent process serves as a reassurance to the people of Rubanda that their safety and democratic rights remain a priority.
