The NRM Parliamentary Caucus is currently meeting with President Yoweri Museveni at State House to discuss key pressing issues in the country, with a focus on the priorities in the National Budget 2025/2026.

This meeting marks the second time in just two weeks that the NRM legislators are meeting with President Museveni, who is also the National Chairman of the ruling National Resistance Movement.

According to Government Chief Whip Denis Hamson Obua, the meeting will prioritize discussions on the national budget, but may also address other pressing issues if deemed necessary by the chairperson.

"We will focus on discussing the priorities in the National Budget 2025/2026, but we are open to amending the agenda to discuss other issues if the need arises," Obua said.

President Museveni has previously emphasized the importance of rationalizing government agencies and public expenditure to save funds.

In a meeting with the NRM parliamentary caucus last year, he noted that rationalization could help the government save up to Shs1 trillion annually.

The meeting comes at a critical time, as the government prepares to present the National Budget for the upcoming financial year.

The discussions are expected to shape the country's fiscal priorities and allocation of resources.

As the meeting concludes, it remains to be seen what key decisions will be made and how they will impact the country's development trajectory.
