Dfcu Bank Appoints Hope Nakhayenze as Chief Risk Officer

Dfcu Bank has announced the appointment of Hope Lorna Nakhayenze as its new Chief Risk Officer, effective March 1, 2025.

In this role, Nakhayenze will oversee the bank’s risk management function under the guidance of the Board Risk Committee, ensuring a robust framework for identifying, measuring, and mitigating both financial and non-financial risks.

With over 17 years of experience in Risk Management, Internal Controls, and Compliance, Nakhayenze brings significant expertise to the position.

She is a Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a qualified Treasurer with the Association of Corporate Treasurers.

She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Makerere University.

Nakhayenze’s extensive career spans finance, corporate treasury, audit assurance, and management consulting, complemented by her leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Before joining Dfcu Bank, Nakhayenze held senior risk leadership roles at several financial institutions, including Head of Risk & Internal Control at Ecobank Uganda and Head of Risk at I&M Bank (Uganda).

She also served as a Board Member of the Provident Fund at I&M Bank, among other positions.

Dfcu Bank recognized Nakhayenze’s past contributions, particularly as the Bank’s first Head of Internal Controls, where she played a pivotal role in enhancing risk awareness and strengthening internal control frameworks.

The Bank expressed confidence that Nakhayenze’s leadership will be instrumental in fortifying its risk management practices, aligning them with global best standards, and supporting the bank’s strategic growth.
