The Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID) has announced a strategic partnership with Ryder Media and the Private Office of Chief Nana Dakrabo I to produce major film projects in Uganda.
The collaboration will kick off with a high-impact docuseries highlighting Uganda’s history, transformation, and cultural richness.
This initiative aligns with PACEID’s mission to position Uganda as a leading exporter of organic agricultural products, a top-tier tourism and investment destination, and a global hub for creative industries.
It also marks a significant step in establishing Uganda’s creative economy as a major export sector.
Under President Museveni’s vision to transform Uganda’s economy through exports, PACEID has identified film and media as a key industry capable of driving economic growth, creating jobs, and promoting Uganda’s heritage on the international stage.
The sector is expected to contribute to Uganda’s goal of reaching $6 billion in exports by 2028 and $100 billion by 2062.
“Uganda is on an unprecedented path of growth and development, and it is essential that the world sees the incredible opportunities and progress our nation is making,” said Odrek Rwabwogo, Chairman of PACEID.
“This collaboration is more than just producing movies—it is about elevating Uganda’s presence in international markets, attracting investment, and making the creative sector a pillar of our export economy.
By exporting our films, we are exporting our culture, creative talent, and national identity to the world.”
Hollywood creator and executive producer JoJo Ryder will spearhead the production.
His past projects include American Heist starring Adrien Brody and Hayden Christensen, Talks with Mama Tina featuring Zendaya and Kevin Hart, and A Little White Lie starring Kate Hudson and Michael Shannon.
His work has received both Daytime Emmy and Oscar nominations.
In January 2025, Ryder and his team traveled to Uganda, engaging with key figures, visiting historical sites, and capturing visuals that will bring Uganda’s story to the global stage.
“Our trip to Uganda was truly eye-opening. The people, the culture, and the vast economic potential make it a story that must be told on the global stage,” Ryder said.
“There is an undeniable energy and momentum in Uganda that the world needs to see. From its entrepreneurial spirit to its natural beauty, this is a country ready to make its mark in global media and entertainment.
"We are honoured to partner with PACEID and Chief Nana to bring this vision to life and establish Uganda as a creative powerhouse in Africa.”
The partnership merges Uganda’s governmental efforts with Hollywood’s storytelling and production expertise.
The partnership was led by Chief Nana Dakrabo I and Uganda’s Trade Representative in the US Dr. Olivier Kamanzi alongside Ryder Media’s partner and nominated Producer Shaun Kowlessar.
Their vision was to build a first-of-its-kind collaboration that merges Uganda’s governmental efforts with Hollywood storytelling and production expertise.
With filming set to begin, this initiative marks a defining moment for Uganda, providing an unparalleled platform to attract foreign investment, expand trade relations, and establish Uganda as a major player in the global media landscape.
