Young artists showcase growth at metamorphosis exhibition

The Metamorphosis Exhibition, an inaugural showcase of artistic transformation, has opened at Kiggundu Art Studio, featuring the works of two emerging artists, Kabeya Ilunga and Edwin Ntare.
The exhibition, which runs until February 25, 2025, highlights the results of a year-long apprenticeship designed to refine raw talent into professional artistry.
Kabeya Ilunga, whose work is rooted in Afrocentric themes, explores African identity and Congolese heritage, particularly the Bakuba culture.
Expressing his excitement, he described the exhibition as a "dream come true", emphasising the joy of sharing his vision with an audience for the first time.
On the other hand, Edwin Ntare’s artwork delves into the struggles and personal journeys of young creatives, reflecting the challenges they face in their artistic pursuits.
He credited the apprenticeship for helping him "find his identity" and fostering curiosity in his creative process.
According to mentor Sana Gateja, the structured mentorship program at Kiggundu Art Studio has played a crucial role in helping artists develop their identities and transition into professional careers.
The ongoing exhibition is open to the public, offering art enthusiasts an opportunity to experience firsthand the transformation of young talent and support emerging artists.
