“The late Eriasaph instilled the principles of the revival movement in his children. I have observed that Col. Nakalema, who I have deployed in a number of positions, is highly disciplined, hardworking, and patriotic. This has enabled her to continue making a commendable contribution to nation building,” noted the Vice President.
The passing of Reverend Eriasaph has left many grieving, marking a somber moment not only for his family but also for the entire church and community.
Born on December 20, 1949, Reverend Eriasaph dedicated 55 years of his life to serving the Church. His sudden passing on February 8, after a heart-related issue and difficulty breathing, came as a shock to many.
He passed away an hour later, though the family confirmed he hadn’t suffered from any ailments before his death.
During the final send-off, his children spoke of the selflessness and dedication of their father, describing him as a man who prioritized education and vocational skills for his children.
“Our father has been a very grateful person, a man of love, a man of care, friendship, hard work, tolerance,” remarked Edith Nakalema, visibly emotional. “I will speak about his quick rapture to glory. He didn’t give us a chance to see him,” she added, expressing both her sorrow and admiration for his legacy.
The children also expressed deep appreciation for the church, which stood by their father as he served as a lay leader and later as a reverend for three years.
The church honored him as a hero, acknowledging his life of service, faith, and commitment, while also noting that the delay in his appointment as a reverend was due to discrimination in church leadership.
Speaking to the mourners, Edith Nakalema thanked the state and President of Uganda for their support during this difficult time.
She recalled how her late father appreciated the President’s initiatives that fostered national development and how that support extended beyond their professional relationship into family and work.
As the final farewell was given, Reverend Eriasaph Serwada was laid to rest, leaving behind a lasting legacy of service, faith, and commitment that will continue to inspire generations to come.
