Boys beat girls in 2024 UCE transitional exams

The just released 2024 Uganda Certificate of Education exam results have indicated that boys performed better than boys in the transitional exams.

A total of 10,141 candidates from 1,028 centres sat for these exams, 4,369 of whom (43.1%) were males and 5,373 (52.9%) were females.

The results indicate that whereas that the percentage of boys who passed in division one went head to head with girls  at 0.8% , more boys at 5.8% passed in division two than girls at 4.7% and in division three, again more boys at 18.0% beat girls at 17.2%.

The results also show that more candidates(5,820) representing 59.7% passed in division four, while 1,629 candidates representing 16.7% failed the exams.

The 2024 UCE results also show that 0.8% of candidates passed in division one while 503 representing 5.2% passed in division two.

In terms of special needs candidates, only one passed in division , five in division two, 10 in division three, and 23 in division four while one completely failed.

“There were a few cases of malpractice especially external assistance and impersonation. The results will be withheld in accordance with the law,” UNEB Executive Director  Dan N. Odongo said on Tuesday morning.
