A delegation of 12 members, including the interim leadership from Hoima Media Sacco, embarked on a learning visit.
As they stepped into the Wazalendo Sacco headquarters in Ntinda, Kampala, they were struck by the sacco’s impressive 20-year journey.
From humble beginnings with just 30 members saving Shs 5,000 per month, Wazalendo has grown into a powerhouse with over 111,000 members and a staggering share capital of more than 1 trillion.
The team from Hoima Media Sacco is determined to learn from this iconic sacco’s successes and challenges.
During their visit, the Hoima Media Sacco team engaged in fruitful discussions with the Wazalendo leadership, soaking up valuable insights and best practices.
They discovered the importance of strategic planning, effective leadership, and member engagement.
“We chose to come here for benchmarking because Wazalendo is one of the most vibrant saccos in the country. We want to learn how best we can make Hoima Media Sacco the best in the region,” said Christopher Nkalu, the sacco chairperson.
The learning visit marks the beginning of an exciting journey for Hoima Media Sacco. With a series of engagements with outstanding saccos and interactions with key dignitaries lined up, the team is poised to acquire the knowledge and expertise needed to propel their sacco to greatness.
