The marathon, hosted by Inspire Africa Group in collaboration with the First Lady, Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni, is designed to spotlight the pivotal role women play in Uganda’s coffee sector.
Women are the backbone of this thriving industry, yet many remain in the grip of poverty. This event is an opportunity to change that narrative while showcasing Uganda’s coffee heritage and unmatched beauty.
Running through Ntungamo’s scenic landscapes, participants will experience a cultural immersion into Uganda’s identity as the proud home of Robusta coffee.
With proceeds aimed at supporting rural women farmers, the Coffee Marathon blends fitness, purpose, and community spirit. Celebrity participation is adding more buzz to the event, with stars like Diamond Platnumz joining the noble cause.
The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr. Samuel Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, has already voiced his confidence in the event’s success, calling on everyone to be part of this game-changer.
The Coffee Marathon is part of a grander vision; It’s a cornerstone of the Africa Coffee Renaissance Chapter 1, initiated by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in May 2024.
This movement aims to position Uganda as a global leader in coffee production and showcase investment opportunities within the industry. The marathon’s climax will lead to the Africa Coffee Festival in October, a platform endorsed by African Union heads of state.
Dr. Nelson Tugume, CEO of Inspire Africa Group, emphasises the marathon’s mission: “This is a clarion call for stakeholders to celebrate women farmers and secure a brighter future for Uganda’s coffee industry.”
