My name is Ronald Kasule, a proud alumnus of the Makerere University Rotary Peace Centre and the founding Executive Director of the Diversity Ability Support Network System (Dasuns).

Dasuns emerged from the profound transformation I underwent during my time at the Peace Centre. This experience equipped me with the knowledge, tools, and network to tackle systemic challenges faced by marginalised communities, particularly Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

At Dasuns, we focus on promoting inclusive socio-economic development, ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, can actively contribute to peace building and community development.

The Makerere Rotary Peace Centre played an instrumental role in shaping my journey as a peace builder. As a member of the inaugural cohort in 2021, I joined a program that challenged traditional perceptions of peace.

The fellowship emphasised the Positive Peace framework, addressing not only the absence of violence but also the presence of justice, equity, and opportunities for all.

Through this training, I gained a deeper understanding of conflict dynamics and practical strategies to create inclusive spaces where everyone’s voice matters.

It was during my time at the Peace Centre that the vision for Dasuns crystallised. Recognising the limited participation of PWDs in peace building, I co-founded Dasuns to champion their inclusion and amplify their voices in decision-making processes.

By leveraging innovative technologies, Dasuns provides essential support and resources to PWDs while fostering greater community cohesion.

None of this would have been possible without the foundational skills and confidence I gained at the Makerere Rotary Peace Centre.

The Africa Peace Concert has also been a transformative element of my journey. Attending the 2023 concert was an inspiring experience that underscored the unifying power of music in fostering peace.

The event brought together artists, peace advocates, and global leaders to celebrate African culture while raising funds to sustain the Peace Centre.

That evening, I witnessed the profound impact of collective action in advancing peace and justice. It also motivated me to expand Dasuns’ initiatives, knowing that sustainable peace requires contributions from all corners of society.

As the 4th edition of the Africa Peace Concert approaches on January 10, 2025, I invite everyone to join this noble cause. Supporting the concert is not just about

attending a musical event—it’s an investment in the sustainability of the Makerere Rotary Peace Centre. This institution has become a beacon of hope, nurturing leaders who address pressing issues like conflict resolution, youth empowerment, and inclusive development across Africa.

Your ticket to the concert is more than just an entry; it’s a step toward transforming lives. The funds raised will support the Centre’s work in training peace builders and implementing impactful community initiatives.

Together, we can amplify the voices of those striving for peace and inclusion and ensure that this vital institution continues its critical mission.

The Makerere Rotary Peace Centre changed my life, and through your support, it can continue to change countless others.

Join us in celebrating African culture, investing in peace, and creating a legacy of inclusion and hope. Get your ticket today, and together, let’s make history!
