In a bid to revamp Uganda's capital, the government has revealed ambitious plans to transform Kampala into a modern, efficient, and livable city within the next five years.

The new plans aim to position Kampala as the country's logistical hub, tackling perennial issues of congestion, pollution, and petty crimes.

According to Amos Lugoloobi, Minister of State for Planning, the revamped Kampala metropolitan area will be a catalyst for economic growth, driving productivity in various sectors, including foreign direct investments, tourism, and public services.

"The Kampala metropolitan area is going to be positioned as Uganda's logistical hub, a catalyst and springboard for increasing productivity in all aspects of the economy, including Foreign Direct Investments (FDI), tourism, efficient public services and highly improved quality of life. So you may see a different city," Lugoloobi remarked.

The government's vision for a new Kampala is expected to significantly improve the quality of life for residents, visitors, and investors alike.

As the city transforms, Ugandans can look forward to a more efficient, sustainable, and prosperous urban center.
