In addition, BoU constructed a new OPD block and a modern maternity block, enhancing the facility's capacity to provide quality healthcare.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Atingi-Ego highlighted the significance of investing in healthcare infrastructure for rural communities.
"Access to modern and efficient healthcare facilities is vital for maternal and child health. By supporting Magoro Health Centre III, we hope to bring essential healthcare services closer to the people, ensuring mothers and children in Katakwi can receive the care they need without the stress of traveling long distances," he remarked.
The newly constructed maternity block is expected to play a critical role in addressing maternal and child health challenges in the district.
Katakwi, like many rural areas in Uganda, has long struggled with inadequate healthcare services, forcing residents to travel to distant facilities for treatment.
The improvements at Magoro Health Centre III will ease this burden and improve access to essential services such as antenatal care, deliveries, and immunizations.
Atingi-Ego emphasized BoU’s commitment to social responsibility, underscoring the broader impact of their interventions.
"We aim to uplift communities by investing directly in the lives and futures of Ugandans. In this way, we are not just your central bank; we are your partner in building a stronger, healthier Uganda."
The handover marks a significant milestone in BoU's corporate social responsibility efforts, which seek to address critical needs in underserved communities across the country.
With the upgraded facilities and new equipment, Magoro Health Centre III is set to provide better care for the thousands of residents who rely on it for medical services.
The initiative aligns with Uganda's broader goal of improving healthcare access and outcomes, particularly in rural areas.
It reflects the collaborative effort needed to ensure no one is left behind in the journey toward a healthier Uganda.
