Ethiopia, Angola's Presidents jet into country for AU summit on agriculture in Kampala
President of Angola, Joào Lourenço is welcomed at Entebbe International Airport

The Presidents of Angola and Ethiopia , Joào Lourenço and Taye Atske Selassie respectively  have arrived in Uganda to attend the African Union Extraordinary Summit on Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).

The summit, taking place at Speke Resort Munyonyo, kicked off on  January ,9 2025 and it will end later today.

At Entebbe International Airport, President Lourenço was received by the Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Jacob Oboth Oboth, the Ambassador of Uganda to Sudan,  Yahya Ssemuddu, Uganda Police Chief Political Commissar, AIGP Ubaldo Bamunoba and Mr. Hillary Bisanga, Director Human Resource Management- Uganda Prisons Service.

On the other side,  President Selassie was received by Minister Jacob Oboth Oboth, Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the AU and IGAD, Ambassador Rebecca Amuge Otengo, Uganda’s Ambassador to Sudan, Dr

Yahya Ssemuddu, UPDF Air Force Chief of Staff, Brig. Gen. David Gonyi, Uganda Police Chief Political Commissar, AIGP Ubaldo Bamunoba, the Assistant Commissioner General of Prisons, Mr. Robert Munanura, and a delegation from the Ethiopian Embassy in Uganda led by Ambassador Etsegenet Yimenu.

CAADP is building onto the  Malabo Declaration that underscored the importance of mutual accountability through agricultural biennial reviews and recognized the essential role of related sectors like infrastructure and rural development.

Other heads of state led by President Museveni are expected to grace the closing ceremony later today at Speke Resort Hotel in Munyonyo.
