Deputy Mufti urges unity among Muslims at Namagumba Mosque opening
The Deputy Mufti of Uganda, Hafidhu Muhammad Bukenya, has urged Muslims to unite and take responsibility for safeguarding Muslim properties, emphasizing that they will be held accountable by Allah for their proper management.
Speaking during the official opening of Namagumba Mosque in Mbale on Friday, the Deputy Mufti warned against the misuse of such properties, stressing the need for responsible stewardship.
During the ceremony, Hafidhu Muhammad Bukenya handed over copies of the Quran to the mosque, including a special copy presented to Hajji Yunus Yusuf Okello in recognition of his contributions to the Muslim community.
Namagumba Mosque, donated to the local community by Hajji Yunus Yusuf Okello, the proprietor of YY Coaches, also hosted its inaugural Jumah prayers, led by Sheikh Imran Ssali.
Sheikh Ssali underscored the lasting spiritual rewards of building a mosque, stating that the benefits continue even after one’s death.
Hajji Karim Kaliisa, managing director of Salam TV, commended Hajji Okello for his remarkable efforts in serving humanity and fostering community development.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Hon. Lydia Wanyoto, Hajji Karim Kaliisa, Sheikh Imran Ssali, and Hajji Ismael Mukankadi. In his address, Hajji Kaliisa praised Hajji Okello’s dedication to uplifting communities and promoting social development.
