Katikkiro Tips International Schools on Embracing Culture in Their Curriculum
Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga poses with students from Kabojja International School

I urge you to be very vigilant while discussing the history of certain institutions because social media has misinformed the public on different issues

The Prime Minister of the Buganda Kingdom, Charles Peter Mayiga, has urged international schools to include cultural studies in their curriculum, emphasising that it is the only way the younger generation can protect their norms.

He made these remarks during an engagement meeting with students of Kabojja International School, who paid a courtesy visit to Bulange, Mengo.

The delegation was led by one of the school’s founders, who is also the Deputy Speaker of the Buganda Lukiiko, Ahmed Lwasa.

While addressing the students, Katikkiro Mayiga gave them a detailed overview of the history of the Buganda Kingdom.

“I urge you to be very vigilant while discussing the history of certain institutions because social media has misinformed the public on different issues,” he said.

He applauded their initiative to visit Bulange, Mengo, noting that it is hard to understand one’s history without tracing it.

“If you are informed about something and respect each other, it builds unity,” he added.

The head teacher of Kabojja International School, Anna Sundell, expressed gratitude to the Buganda Kingdom for giving their school the opportunity to learn about Buganda’s heritage.

“We are very grateful for this opportunity, and we are sure our students have learned a lot about the Buganda Kingdom,” she said.
