British High Commissioner Lisa Chesney’s visit to Next Media Park marks a significant milestone in strengthening UK-Uganda media ties. Chesney, who was warmly received by Next Media Group CEO Kin Kariisa, embarked on a tour of the state-of-the-art facility, gaining insight into Next Media’s operations, sustainability initiatives, and global media collaborations.
The visit highlighted the British High Commission’s support for Next Media and explored ways to deepen their collaboration.
Chesney’s intentionality in understanding Uganda’s dynamic demographics impressed Kariisa, who noted that their conversation covered Next Media’s journey, sustainability efforts, and regional and global collaborations.
Kariisa emphasised the significance of building greater synergies with stakeholders, stating, “There is still so much more we can do together to transform Uganda and beyond.”
The meeting was part of broader engagement between Next Media and the British High Commission, underscoring the importance of collaboration in Uganda’s evolving media landscape.
As the UK’s new High Commissioner to Uganda, Chesney brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone and held various roles within the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Her appointment is expected to further strengthen UK-Uganda relations, with a focus on mutual interests such as trade, investment, education, health, and governance.
