Kawempe South Member of Parliament, Kazibwe Bashir Mbaziira, has paid tribute to the late Muhammad Ssegirinya, popularly known as Mr. Updates, whose life and contributions left a lasting impact on Uganda's political and media landscapes.

Ssegirinya passed away on Thursday at Rubaga Hospital.

He was the Member of Parliament representing the people of Kawempe North.

Speaking to the media, Mbaziira described Ssegirinya as a symbol of resilience, determination, and service to the community.

"This is a very difficult time for the country, losing such a young man who rose from humble beginnings to become a prominent figure in society," Mbaziira said.

"He was once fetching water in Kawempe, but his determination and creativity set him apart, making him a voice for the people of Kyebando."

Ssegirinya, who rose to fame as a social media-driven journalist and activist, was known for his relentless pursuit of justice for the marginalized.

Despite facing numerous challenges, he became a Lord Counselor, symbolising the power of perseverance against adversity.

"He showed that no matter your background, you can rise and become an important person," Mbaziira noted.

"His resilience in the face of obstacles was unmatched."

Mbaziira praised Ssegirinya for using his voice and influence to bring crucial updates to the public, particularly through social media.

"He revolutionised journalism, ensuring that local communities received real-time news and updates through phone calls and social media platforms," Mbaziira said.

"His sacrifice and efforts to serve the people of Uganda cannot be forgotten."

The MP further acknowledged Ssegirinya's commitment to improving the lives of his constituents.

From building a hospital to planning initiatives to support women and children, Ssegirinya's vision was focused on creating sustainable change in his community.

"He was a true leader, who managed to fulfill his manifesto in a short period," Mbaziira added. "He challenged us as MPs to do more for the people."
