Kabuleta calls for unity as he launches Christmas Cup in Bunyoro
Joseph Kabuleta has launched a football competition in Bunyoro.

National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) leader Joseph Kiiza Kabuleta officially launched the 2024 Kabuleta Christmas Cup at Kolping Hotel, Hoima City, with a call for unity among the people of Bunyoro.

Speaking at the launch, Kabuleta thanked attendees for their support and urged the Banyoro to rally together to fight for their rights.

He emphasised the importance of the annual tournament as a platform for fostering community cohesion and announced plans to expand it beyond Bunyoro to cover the entire country.

“This tournament has been here for years, and it will continue to grow. We aim to bring together communities across Uganda through football,” Kabuleta said.

The festive event features 16 teams from Hoima's sub-counties, all equipped with new kits, highlighting the region's budding football talent.

The competition, which is non-partisan and community-driven, aims to promote local sports and unity.

Prominent figures present included Chairman DFA Mr. Gabriel Dema, Spokesperson Capt. Jeff, Director of Programme Ali Babi, Minister of Education Achilles Kiiza, Women Sports Officer Mrs. Diana Tusiime , Regional Sports Officer Mr.Moses Ayebale, and Hoima City Sports Officer.

During the event, Mr. Ali Babi praised Kabuleta for his dedication to the Bunyoro community and urged residents to support his efforts.

The tournament, an annual highlight in Bunyoro’s festive calendar, not only celebrates football but also strengthens communal bonds.

With plans for nationwide expansion, the Kabuleta Christmas Cup seeks to inspire broader unity through the love of the game.
