Ministry of Tourism,Buganda, Busoga,team up to Revitalize Local Tourism
In a collaborative effort to boost local tourism and preserve Uganda’s cultural heritage, the Buganda Kingdom, Busoga Kingdom, and the Ministry of Tourism have joined forces to launch a new initiative.
The campaign, titled “History and Heritage - Uganda,” was unveiled at the Ewaffe Cultural Centre in Naggalama, Mukono District. Organised by Top Cloud Rwenzori Adventures Limited, the campaign aims to highlight Uganda’s diverse cultural treasures and promote domestic tourism.

Godfrey Luyombya, representing Anthony Wamala, Buganda’s Minister for Culture, Traditional Affairs, and Tourism, stressed that land ownership and protection are vital for preserving culture.
He urged Ugandans to safeguard their land to ensure their heritage is maintained for future generations.
“Let’s learn to preserve the land with its hills, rocks, trees, and wells that have existed for generations. This is how we will bolster local tourism,” said Godfrey Luyombya.
Andrew Wansolo Kigenyi, State Minister for Culture and Tourism in Busoga Kingdom, emphasised the importance of cultural practices such as traditional marriage ceremonies, crafts, and heritage sites. He highlighted their potential to generate income through tourism.
Ruth Michelle Bisoboka, Miss Tourism Buganda, encouraged young people to integrate cultural heritage into their daily lives. She called on the youth to actively participate in promoting and preserving Uganda’s rich traditions.
Amon Baita, CEO of Top Cloud Rwenzori Adventures, explained that the campaign seeks to showcase unique cultural attractions and provide visitors with unforgettable experiences. He emphasised that local tourism can uncover hidden gems and contribute to Uganda’s economy.
“This partnership underscores the shared commitment to preserving Uganda’s rich heritage and revitalising local tourism, fostering economic growth and cultural pride,” Baita noted.
