Entebbe Traffic Police Intensify Crackdown on Reckless Driving ahead of festivities
Entebbe Traffic Police, in collaboration with the Fly Entebbe Express Travelers Association, has intensified crackdown on reckless driving ahead of festivities.
Entebbe Police OC, Traffic Wycliff Twesigye said the crackdown is aimed at promoting responsible driving especially along the Expressway highway
"Several people traveling to and from Entebbe use the Expressway, which has a higher speed limit. During the festive season, drivers often rush to make more trips at dangerously high speeds, putting both their safety and that of their passengers at risk," Twesigye said.
He added, “hundreds and thousands of people travel to Entebbe during holidays, but I want to call upon all road users to be so careful in this season. We will not tolerate that kind of reckless driving this round”
“Our target is actually on those using the Entebbe Expressway highway”
The chairperson of Fly Entebbe Express Travelers Association, Peter Kaggwa, emphasized that the stop checks are designed to ensure driver discipline and the safety of passengers.
"We are in the rainy season, and the road becomes slippery, so we urge our drivers to drive at safe speeds to ensure they deliver passengers safely both to and from Kampala and Entebbe," Kaggwa said.
“I also call upon all passengers to be vigilant with those tax and boda boda operators because some come with different intentions in this season. they should respect traffic regulations and treat passengers with care, the passenger you are transporting has left many loved ones at home. They should be driven safely so we can all conclude the festive season in joy," he added.
Annet Twinamasiko, a driver along the Entebbe Road, highlighted that fostering discipline among drivers is essential to compliance with road regulations.
“I also urge all road users to follow and respect traffic rules during this season” she said.
Hassan Ssekabila , a driver, also noted that the operation will enable drivers to prioritize passenger care and safety.
