Parliament Raid: Aisha Kabanda Demands Answers Over Arrest

Ms Kabanda, who was not among the MPs suspended by the Speaker at the time, expressed her concerns and was supported by the Leader of the Opposition, who presented evidence of the men involved in the raid.
Butambala Woman legislator Aisha Kabanda has called for an explanation regarding the men who raided Parliament during the debate on the Coffee Amendment Bill 2024, leading to her arrest in a dehumanising manner.
Ms Kabanda, who was not among the MPs suspended by the Speaker at the time, expressed her concerns and was supported by the Leader of the Opposition, who presented evidence of the men involved in the raid.
"It is unacceptable that I was arrested in such a dehumanising manner, yet I was not among those suspended by the Speaker," Ms Kabanda said.
"I demand to know who these men were and what authority they had to arrest me."
The Leader of the Opposition also condemned the actions of the men involved in the raid.
"The evidence we have presented clearly shows that the men who raided Parliament were not authorized to do so," the Leader of the Opposition said.
"We demand that the Speaker takes action to address this issue."
However, the Speaker advised MP Kabanda to move a substantive motion, while rejecting the evidence presented by the Leader of the Opposition.
"I advise the honorable member to move a substantive motion, rather than presenting evidence that has not been verified," the Speaker said.
Ms Kabanda has vowed to pursue the matter further, demanding answers and justice for her arrest.
"I will not let this matter rest until I get the answers I deserve," she said.
