Akena Brings UPC campaign to Kisoro in the Woman MP By-Election
The Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) President, Jimmy Akena Obote, is set to arrive in Kisoro this Saturday to campaign for UPC's candidate, Ms. Ingabire Mable, in the Kisoro District Woman MP by-election, slated for November 14, 2024.
"I am going to the ground tomorrow and will do what I can for my country," Akena told the Nile Post.

Akena expressed UPC's commitment to securing victory in a highly competitive race.
The party, known for its historical influence in Uganda, is up against candidates from the National Resistance Movement (NRM), National Unity Platform (NUP), Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), People’s Progressive Party (PPP), and an Independent candidate.
Since Wednesday, November 6, UPC and Ingabire have campaigned across various parts of Kisoro.
They began in Bufumbira South, moved to Bufumbira East on Thursday, and are set to campaign in Bufumbira North today.
The campaigns have focused on mobilising support, as UPC seeks to strengthen its presence in the district.
UPC has gained momentum in recent by-elections, winning seats in Oyam North County and Dokolo District Woman MP.
This winning streak, combined with growing local support in Kisoro, has bolstered optimism within the party.
The Independent Electoral Commission has confirmed that polling for the by-election will be held on Thursday, November 14.
