Uganda is preparing to host the 43rd African Association of Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) Roundtable Conference and Annual General Meeting at Speke Hotel Munyonyo in Kampala from November 26th to 29.

The event, organized in partnership with the Government of Uganda, AAPAM, and the Uganda Association of Public Administration and Management (UAPAM), will bring together leading public administration experts, policymakers, and thought leaders from across Africa.

The conference, under the theme, “Agile and Resilient Public Administration for Sustainable Development in Africa,” aims to equip African public administrations with the tools to adapt to and overcome the challenges the continent faces, ensuring a future that is both sustainable and resilient.

Lucy Nakyobe, Uganda’s Head of Public Service and President of the Uganda Association of Public Administration and Management, emphasized the significance of the theme during a press conference to launch the event.

She noted that Africa’s public administrations must navigate a rapidly changing environment marked by economic instability, social inequalities, infrastructure gaps, and environmental issues.

“The push toward more agile and resilient public administration is crucial to meeting both the current and future needs of the African people, ensuring governance that anticipates challenges while promoting sustainable development,” Nakyobe stated.

In light of the ongoing social, economic, and environmental changes, the conference will encourage public administration leaders to reconsider traditional governance frameworks.

The discussions will focus on fostering systems that are adaptable to immediate crises and long-term uncertainties.

The agenda will build on the progress made during the 42nd Roundtable, aiming to advance transformative governance structures capable of addressing Africa’s complex challenges.

With the continent facing issues such as limited financial inclusion, weak policy frameworks, and difficult business environments, the conference will advocate for ethical, transparent, and accountable governance.

The goal is to promote sustainable growth and position public administrators as key drivers of Africa’s development agenda.

The 43rd AAPAM Roundtable Conference will emphasize the critical role African administrators play in creating robust governance systems and innovative solutions that provide efficient, sustainable public services.

The gathering is expected to set a precedent for proactive and ethical governance, addressing the gaps in current administrative structures and fostering collective efforts to ensure a resilient and sustainable future for Africa.
