Parliament Demands Answers on Unequal Student Loan Distribution.
The Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has directed the Ministry of Education and Sports to provide an analysis on the Student Loan Scheme admissions, citing unequal distribution of slots among districts
"We have districts being given 65 slots and others are given one... This is unfair," said Elijah Okupa, MP for Kasilo County. "Last time we said, let this be the last. This was supposed to bring equity."

Speaker Among echoed concerns, stating, "Let us work towards helping Uganda... We want an analysis of admissions."
However, Minister Peter Ogwang defended the selection process, emphasising that it's based on merit. "The system we are using... helps us get the most competent, the most qualified."
"The Students Loan scheme is advertised nationally, and students apply online," Ogwang explained. "If Wakiso had 200 apply and 50 got in, is there a problem with that?"
The Ministry has now been tasked with providing a detailed report to address the concerns raised by MPs.
