SFC dismisses claims of move to arrest Makerere staff  over strike
SFC spokesperson, Maj Jimmy Omara.

The Special Forces Command has dismissed as untrue, reports that they are expected to carry out arrests on some Makerere University staff accused of masterminding  a protest .

It was reported that staff at the university were planning a strike over failure by the university to pay a package demand.

These were supposed to meet today to vote a motion to lay down tools , ahead of President Museveni’s  scheduled meeting at the university  to among others  install the new chancellor  Chancellor Dr Crispus Kiyonga.

It was said that after getting wind of the move, SFC planned to swing into action to arrest the ringleaders.

However, in a statement, the SFC spokesperson, Maj Jimmy Omara described the claims as unfounded.

“The allegation against Special Force Command is unfounded. We are not sure who is behind the  peddling of such falsehoods,” Majo Omara said.

He asked to ignore the falsehoods.

“As a force, we are charged with more serious responsibilities than what is being alleged.”
