Lwanga, was elected as a Member of the Parliament for Njeru Municipality in Buikwe District on NUP ticket during the 2021 general elections.
He also serves on the Public Service and Local Government Committee of the eleventh parliament.
The news of Lwanga's appointment comes as a huge blow to the opposition, NUP, which has recently lost its members such as Bukoto South MP, Twaha Kagabo to PLU.
Kagabo, this year, announced he had ditched Robert Kyagulanyi's NUP for PLU, which has been rumoured to have plans of fronting the First Son for Presidency.
Meanwhile, the latest appointments by Muhoozi saw Adrian Ddungu appointed Lwanga's assistant, while Augustine Bankunda named publicity secretary.
Abdullah Kasozi, was appointed committee secretary, while Daisy Sarah Sonko is to head the Women Council.
Other members appointed on the committee are Malik Kiberu Malik (Youth Council Representative), Tadeo Kintu (PWDs Council Representative), and David Tuseregete (Secretary Elderly council).
PLU expressed confidence in dedication and commitment of the appointed individuals to its values of Patriotism and combating corruption and wastage of public resources.
"We envisage this team significantly contributing to our efforts in engaging and mobilizing the citizenry in greater Mukono towards transformation and socio-Economic Development," the party stated.
In the previous election, Lwanga, who previously served as Njeru Municipality Speaker, won with 13,676 votes on the National Unity Platform ticket to become the Njeru Municipality MP.
However, since 2023, he has been at loggerheads with the opposition party.
He fell out with the party last year after attending the Soroti Baraza, organised by PLU. At the event, he was captured sharing a handshake with Gen Muhoozi.
He would later confirm that he had officially joined the MK movement, led by the First Son.
