Onapito Ekomoloit to be buried in November
Government has confirmed that the late Onapito Ekomoloit, former Member of Parliament for Amuria and Presidential Press Secretary, will be laid to rest in late November, in accordance with his will.
This announcement was made following a meeting held at the Cabinet library on Monday, between the National Organising Committee (N.O.C), the family, and legal representatives of the deceased.

The Minister in charge of the Presidency, Milly Babalanda, stated that all parties involved have agreed to honor the wishes of the late Onapito as outlined in his will.
“Hon. Onapito will be buried in late November, and all final arrangements will be made according to his wishes,” Babalanda said.
“The N.O.C, family, and Parliament will provide an update on the final details early in November,"she added.
As the family and nation mourn the loss of this influential figure, the government has expressed its continued support for the bereaved, offering prayers for strength during this difficult time.
Further updates on the burial arrangements are expected in the coming weeks.
Last week, President Museveni granted Ekomoloit an official burial, recognizing his significant contributions to the country.
Onapito served as a legislator in the sixth Parliament, representing Amuria County.
He also acted as President Museveni’s Press Secretary before transitioning to serve as Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs at Nile Breweries (NBL) in 2006, a position he held for 17 years.
He passed away at Kampala Hospital on Friday morning following a short illness.
Babalanda further stated that the organising committee will collaborate with Parliament to ensure an honorable send-off.
