Police in Luwero district are currently investigating the brutal killing of Margret Nakiyingi, a 50-year-old woman, who was attacked and killed at her home in Wampamba Zone in Wobulenzi Town Council, yesterday Wednesday, 18th.

Preliminary investigations suggest that an unidentified assailant attacked Nakiyingi at the entrance of her home and cut her neck with a machete, nearly decapitating her.
The attack took place just outside her doorway, where she lived alone.
Neighbours reported hearing an alarm, prompting them to rush to her home. Upon arrival, they found Nakiyingi lying in a pool of blood, her head almost severed.
It is believed that the attack may have been related to an ongoing land dispute with her family members, which may have culminated in this fatal confrontation.
Police responded quickly to the scene, but initial investigations were hampered as locals had already tampered with evidence. A sniffer dog brought in to assist could not pick up a trail.
However, law enforcement recovered some evidence from the scene, including the suspected murder weapon—a machete.
Twinneamazima says police have launched a manhunt for the perpetrator, who remains at large.
The deceased’s body has been taken to Luwero Hospital for a postmortem examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
Moses Ssebalamu, the mayor of Wobulenzi Town Council, expressed deep concern over the tragic incident. He noted that this is not the first time Nakiyingi has been targeted by her family members, citing a previous incident where her house was set on fire in what appeared to be an attempt to harm her.
Ssebalamu called on the police to enhance security measures in the area, as residents are increasingly worried about rising insecurity and violent attacks.
"This tragedy has left residents in shock and fear," the mayor stated, urging law enforcement to take swift action to curb further violence in the community.
As investigations continue, police are urging anyone with information on the case to come forward, promising that all leads will be pursued to ensure justice for Nakiyingi.
