Museveni reveals his birthday wish
President Museveni

President Museveni has revealed his birthday wish, just days after clocking 80.

Museveni, celebrated another year of life on Sunday, and spent the day at a thanksgiving ceremony held at Kijaguzo Catholic parish in Nakaseke district, Greater Luwero.

Organised by the Minister for Luwero Triangle, Alice Kaboyo, the ceremony was attended by the first family, the clergy and other dignitaries.

Museveni's birthday fete has since attracted a lot of attention especially on social media. However, one thing remained unknown- his birthday wish.

In his Tuesday X (formerly Twitter) post, Museveni revealed that he had been asked by his well-wishers to reveal his birthday wish, a trend he claims was new to him.

"However, yesterday the Muzzukulu Hellen Seku told me that as a baby boy birthday celebrant, I had not told my well-wishers my birthday wish. Since I have not been in the culture of celebrating birthdays, I did not know about that element," Museveni posted.

To rectify the matter raised by his well-wishers, Museveni, in his post, revealed that his birthday wish was the realization of the dream of the Pan-Africanists for the creation of the East African Political Federation and the consolidation of the Continental Free Trade Area.

"These are in order to achieve the 3 historical missions of: ensuring prosperity for the wealth creators and all Africans by creating a big market for our products; ensuring our strategic- security against all threats to us on Land, in the Air, at the Sea and in Space by creating powerful integrated defence systems of the Political Federations where feasible; and using the brotherhood of the African Peoples to achieve these two- prosperity and strategic security. Here ends my birthday wish," the president stated.

Museveni, was born on September 15, 1944 in Ntungamo to Mzee Amos Kaguta a cattle keeper, and Esteri Kokundeka Nganzi.

The chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has been in power since 1986.

On January 16, 2021, he was reelected to a sixth term after winning 58.6% of the vote. It is not known if he will contest for another term in 2026.
