Museveni to celebrate 80th birthday in Luweero
President Museveni is set to celebrate his 80th birthday at a thanksgiving ceremony in Nakaseke district in the Greater Luweero Triangle area.
The thanksgiving organized by the Minister for Luweero Triangle, Alice Kaboyo, will be held at Kijaguzo Catholic Parish headquarters and will be preceded by special prayers , speeches and a luncheon.
“We chose this venue for a reason. This parish(Kijaguzo) supported the president so much during the war that brought this government in power," Kaboyo said.
"This place is where some of the important visitors to NRA were always kept here but also whenever the president wanted to have a moment of reflection, he would come here."
She said the celebration was organized in Nakaseke to ensure the local population also takes part in the festivities.
Museveni was estimated to be born on 15 September 1944 to Mzee Amos Kaguta (1916–2013), a cattle keeper, and Esteri Kokundeka Nganzi (1918–2001), in Ntungamo.
He has previously said he doesn’t fancy throwing parties for his birthday celebrations.
Speaking on Sunday, the Minister for Luweero Triangle, Alice Kaboyo described Museveni’s 80th birthday celebrations as being special.
“We believe that 80 years for a leader when they are still healthy and leading with sanity is something special and worth celebrating. The people are happy to celebrate with him and gave us a lot of gifts for him.”
The celebrations have attracted several dignitaries including ministers, Members of Parliament, NRA bush war veterans and other dignitaries who have thronged Nakaseke.
