The Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya,Dr. Jackson Ole Sapit, has called on Ugandan church leaders to prioritise stewardship in their efforts toward community transformation.

He delivered this message while addressing the Church of Uganda’s Household and Community Transformation (HCT) Coordinators during a benchmarking visit in Nairobi.

Archbishop Sapit's address focused on the critical role stewardship plays in fostering lasting community transformation, emphasizing the need for holistic investment in human, financial, infrastructure, and natural resources.

Speaking to the 41-member Ugandan delegation, he underscored the importance of aligning these resources for sustainable growth and development.

He emphasized that spiritual mission and social transformation must go hand in hand, underscoring the need for self-sufficiency in church ministry work.

"Community transformation can only be achieved when we ensure that Jesus is at the center of our efforts, with the right knowledge to grow resources and the practical ability to multiply them for future generations," said Archbishop Sapit.

"The Anglican Church of Kenya has built sustainable ministries by leveraging investments, allowing parishes to support themselves without depending solely on contributions from Christians."

Rev. Canon William Ongeng, the Provincial Secretary of the Church of Uganda, emphasised the purpose of the visit, which is to learn from Kenya's successful community transformation and agribusiness projects.

The group is collaborating with organizations such as CORAT Africa and Anglican Development Services (ADS) to gain insights into best practices.

The Ugandan delegation, consisting of diocesan coordinators and staff from the Provincial Secretariat, is set to visit various ADS projects in Eastern Kenya as part of their ongoing learning experience.
