After a prolonged period of delays due to alleged municipal internal conflicts, the Entebbe Municipal Development Forum (MDF) elections have finally reached a conclusion.

The elections, which had been marred by disputes and disagreements, have finally brought a sense of resolution and closure to the municipality declaring Reverend Julius Matovu as the winner, defeating his opponents Gracious Mugabe and Daniel Ssebuliba.

In his acceptance speech, Reverend Matovu thanked his supporters and emphasized the need for collaboration and cooperation to address the challenges facing Entebbe.

“I’m so glad to have undertaken this new role as the Lead. My aim with the team is to ensure we see Entebbe shine. There should be accountability, transparency in all projects that the Municipal council does for people to trust us” He stated.

He vowed to work tirelessly to ensure the municipality reaches its full potential emphasizing on efforts to foster the development of infrastructural projects including monitory of roads , schools among others.

The completion of the MDF elections marks a new chapter for Entebbe, and residents are optimistic about the future under Reverend Matovu's leadership.

Reverend Matovu's victory is seen as a positive step forward for the community, as he pledges to work towards unity and development.

However, the opponents , Gracious Mugabe revealed his dismay citing alleged acts of corruption that marred the elections in favour of the winning candidate.

“I was surprised to see voters who received over Shs 500,000 to vote for a certain candidate , what kind of corruption is that ?” Gracious asked.

He attributed his failure based on the previous conflicts with the Mayor of Entebbe Fabrice Rulinda.

MDFs are platforms established at the Municipal level under the Ministry of Lands Housing and Urban Development for all stakeholders in the urban sector to meet regularly to exchange views, debate priorities and agree on common actions on matters pertaining to the urban sector.
