The incident saw Kyagulanyi injured on the leg and later hospitalized.
Whereas police last week said they had kicked off investigations into what exactly happened, spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke on Monday said investigations had stalled after Kyagulanyi refused to cooperate.
“He(Kyagulanyi) said he has no trust in Uganda Police. Our team was sent to him as a gesture of interest in the matter but he is unwilling to share with us. Whereas we need his side of the story before we proceed with investigations, he is not interested. On our first attempt to come into contact with him, he rejected it,” Rusoke said.
Last week police said officers on the ground indicated they had seen Kyagulanyi stumbled while getting into his vehicle, causing the injury on his leg.
On the other side, the NUP leader’s team insisted that Police had fired teargas at them and a canister had him Kyagulanyi on the leg, injuring him.
Rusoke said whereas the NUP leader had refused to cooperate, the file will remain open.
“We shall not close case but if he feels he should give us his statement and medical report, we shall start from there. We shall be patient,” he said.
