Uganda is set to host the "Timeless Frames" exhibition by award-winning visual artist and storyteller Derrick Ssenyonyi, which will feature a visual narrative of the country's natural beauty.
The exhibition, scheduled to take place at the Kampala Serena Hotel, will showcase Uganda's breathtaking landscapes, vibrant wildlife, and rich cultural heritage, with a strong emphasis on the importance of conservation.
The event, announced during a press conference in Kampala attended by the State Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Kabbyanga Godfrey Baluku, and officials from the Uganda Wildlife Authority, promises to be a first-of-its-kind visual celebration of Uganda’s natural wonders.
Expressing his excitement, Ssenyonyi described the exhibition as "more than just an art display," aiming to inspire a deeper appreciation for Uganda's environment and heritage.
"In creating this body of work, my intention has always been to go beyond the surface and dive deeper into the role art can play in conservation and tourism. Every image in 'Timeless Frames' tells a story of our responsibility to preserve what is precious," he said.
"The landscapes, wildlife, and people I’ve captured are not just scenes; they are reminders of the fragile relationship between us and the environment."
Stephen Masaba, the Director of Tourism and Business at the Uganda Wildlife Authority, praised Ssenyonyi’s work for its powerful contribution to promoting Uganda's tourism and the vital importance of conservation.
"Derrick Ssenyonyi’s work captures the essence of Uganda, and we are proud to support this initiative. It aligns perfectly with our vision of conserving for generations," he stated.
State Minister Godfrey Kabbyanga urged Ugandans to harness the power of storytelling to elevate Uganda as a top destination for travelers worldwide.
The exhibition will launch on September 20 and run from October 1-31, 2024, at the Summit View Residences.
The month-long showcase will immerse visitors in stunning visuals of Uganda and demonstrate the critical role of creative storytelling in enhancing tourism and conservation efforts.
