The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, the Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna, has emphasised the importance of respecting leaders across all spheres of life.

Speaking during the induction of Venerable Christopher Mashaija as the new archdeacon of Kantare Archdeaconry,

Bishop Akanjuna urged Christians to show respect for their superiors, which he said would promote harmony, cooperation, and prevent conflicts.

Bishop Akanjuna stressed that mutual respect is crucial for the church’s growth and development. He encouraged Christians to participate in government initiatives, such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), to boost household incomes and eradicate poverty.

“Cooperation and respect at work are essential for advancing God’s work and the development of our communities,” Bishop Akanjuna stated.

Reverend Canon Amos Tweteise, the Archdeacon of Kikungiri Archdeaconry, echoed Bishop Akanjuna’s sentiments.

He cautioned Christians against clashing with church leaders and urged them to support their leaders to help spread the Christian ministry throughout the region.

“Ensure that your church leaders are well supported. Visit them and provide for them so they can be content and effectively preach the word of God,” Rev. Canon Tweteise said.

Rukiga MP Roland Ndyomugyenyi also called on Christians to work hard to increase their household incomes.

He highlighted government programs aimed at extending electricity and solar power systems to rural areas.

The induction service was attended by several dignitaries, including Rukiga District Woman MP Caroline Kamusiime Muhwezi.

Synod member Jackson Asiimwe Rwamwehare highlighted the challenges facing the area, including poverty, disease, and social discord.

The induction service marked a new beginning for Kantare Archdeaconry, which includes the parishes of Bucundura, Kitanga, Kicucwe, and Ngoma.

Venerable Christopher Mashaija succeeds the late Ven. Justus Akampurira, who passed away in March this year.
