Rotarians and the public have been urged to focus on tree planting aiming at greener community and environmental sustainability.

The remarks were made during the District Governor D9214 Agnes Mungati Batenga’s official visit and groundbreaking for Bugiri Public Primary School classroom blocks in Entebbe, a project led by Rotary Club of Bwerenga.

She said  it is everyone’s role to protect the environment, highlighting the human negative impacts that have left a toxic environment.

In the fellowship, the Club raised $1,000 and commissioned the planned architectural construction of the three classroom blocks at Bugiri Public Primary School, a project for which Shs150 million has been budgeted.

“Every club should have what it brings on the table and I see you already have a start. Move on, cooperate and participate in community-based projects to meet Rotary’s area of focus."

Mungati revealed that Rotary International through the president is proposing to task every member of the Rotary to contribute at least USD100  to boost rotary projects across the World.

She also urged the club to focus on increasing the membership and carry-on progressive engagements.

Past District Governor (PDG) of District 9214, Emmanuel Katongole, lauded the club’s efforts to serve humanity through a project to construct classroom blocks.

Katogole re-echoed District Governor’s statements for Rotarians to contribute towards Rotary activities across the World.

Bwerenga Rotary Club President, Joseph Kabiito, highlighted the significance of such initiatives that empower the communities, reflecting on the core areas of focus under Rotary to serve humanity.

The commemoration of 100 years of Rotary’s existence will take place in Dar es Salam, Tanzania.
