The Rotary club of Hoima Kitara has set shs30 million  to be raised during the  forthcoming cancer run .

With just close to three weeks left for the forthcomingAugust, 25 cancer run , the Rotary club of Hoima Kitara led by their president Philip Kihumuro announced they are  targeting  1,000 runners to meet their set target of shs30 million that will be sent to the Rotary centre to add up what other regions will have contributed.

"We understand the dangers of cancer and it's treatment, most people can't travel abroad due to finances, so having a radiotherapy machine at Nsambya hospital will save many lives, it is why as club we have set that target. Last time we had 600 runners, now we want 1,000 runners to raise at least shs 30million," Kihumuro said.

"When we talk about contributing through buying kits, to many it is not yet clear, but our strategy is going to include campaigns, visiting people in their shops and families telling them the message so that they can join us by either giving us money or joining the run. The  more the numbers, the easier it becomes to achieve the target in the shortest time possible."

Dr Mark Kunihira, the cancer run chairman asked the public to join this noble cause.

"The least you would want your relative to suffer from is cancer. It is dangerous, and no one invites it. Let us join hands and have this machine so that we together save lives," Dr Kunihira said

While the entire budget of the machine is shs 12 billion, so far shs4 billion has been collected.
