President Ruto noted that Kenya and the United States consistently find common ground on various issues, particularly in areas that serve both countries' interests.
"Our two countries are working closely on regional peace and security, and the renewal of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA). We are also negotiating a Strategic Trade and Investment Partnership," he stated.
The African Growth and Opportunity Act, a cornerstone of U.S.-Africa trade relations, provides eligible African countries with duty-free access to the U.S. market for thousands of products.
The renewal of AGOA is expected to further bolster economic ties and support sustainable development across the continent.
Additionally, the Strategic Trade and Investment Partnership aims to enhance trade and investment flows between Kenya and the United States. This partnership is seen as a significant step towards deepening economic cooperation and creating new opportunities for businesses in both countries.
In a demonstration of the ongoing diplomatic engagement, President Ruto hosted U.S. Senator John Cornyn at State House Nairobi. Senator Cornyn, who serves on the Senate Finance, Intelligence, and Judiciary Committees, discussed various aspects of U.S.-Kenya relations, including security cooperation and economic initiatives.
"The meeting with Senator Cornyn underscores the strong bipartisan support in the United States for deepening ties with Kenya. It also highlights the strategic importance of our partnership in addressing regional challenges and promoting stability and prosperity," President Ruto remarked.
As Kenya and the United States continue to work together on these critical initiatives, both nations reaffirm their commitment to advancing shared goals and upholding the values of freedom and democracy that bind them.
