As Uganda continues to honor the late Hon. Aleper Simon Peter, members of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of his party, the National Resistance Movement (NRM), are paying tribute to a leader who championed the welfare of his people with unwavering dedication and integrity.

Hon. Gabriel Kato, Chairman of the Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) within the CEC, described Aleper as a man of exceptional character who upheld objectivity and transparency in all his endeavors. “We shall endeavor to emulate his outstanding and rare character of dedicating his life to national service in the interest of the ordinary people,” Kato said today at Aleper’s home in Kangole town council, Napak district.

He expressed that Aleper’s death is “a great shock and a significant loss to the NRM’s top organ,” highlighting how his wisdom and insights into Karamoja’s affairs will be deeply missed.

Hajj Gaddafi Nasur, Chairman of the NRM Youth League, lauded Aleper as a leader who was deeply committed to all communities in Karamoja.

“He will be remembered for promoting unity and spearheading investment in the region, particularly through the development of mineral resources, which created employment opportunities,” Nasur stated.

He revealed that Aleper played a crucial role in bringing economic development to Karamoja, including the establishment of cement factories, and tragically passed away while en route to Kampala for a meeting with the President on related issues.

Hajjat Medina Naham, NRM Director of Finance and Administration, joined the local community in mourning and described Aleper as “a sincere, intelligent, yet humble man.

” On behalf of the Secretariat, Medina assured that the party would continue to support Aleper’s family. “We are committed to standing by the family because they are part of the NRM family,” Medina affirmed.

She also shared that President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the NRM Chairman, has pledged to assist Aleper’s family, including plans to build a residential home in Kampala and support the education of his children.

“Our role as the Secretariat is to ensure that the family remains close to us and is supported during this difficult time,” Medina added.

Hon. Faith Nakut, the Napak Woman Member of Parliament, reflected on Aleper’s commitment to development and empowerment. “He founded the Karamoja Professionals Association to unite regional elites for the prosperity of people in villages,” Nakut said.

Aleper Simon Peter will be laid to rest tomorrow in Kangole, Napak district, as the community and party members continue to honor his legacy and contributions to the region.
