President Museveni Pays tribute to late NRM Vice Chairman for Karamoja, Simon Peter Aleper
President Yoweri Museveni has honoured the late Simon Peter Aleper, the NRM Vice Chairman for the Karamoja region, who tragically passed away in a motor accident on Tuesday, July 23rd.
Museveni, who served as the chief mourner, praised Aleper's significant contributions to the transformation of the Karamoja's subregion.

The late Simon Peter Aleper's body was brought to the NRM party headquarters, where President Museveni first laid a wreath on the casket and then penned his condolences in the book provided.
In his address to the mourners, President Museveni commended Aleper for his dedicated service and noted that his efforts had elevated Karamoja to a critical level of development, making it a powerhouse for the country.
"Karamoja is going to be a powerhouse now. There are already industries there. Many people initially under looked the region," said President Museveni.
As a gesture of appreciation for Aleper's contributions, President Museveni vowed to support Aleper's family. He promised to cover the school fees for Aleper's children, build a house for the family in Kampala, and provide employment for Aleper's widow.
"We shall pay school fees for the children. I have also instructed my assistant to make sure they get a small house in Kampala," President Museveni stated before promising tje widow a job.
Simon Peter Aleper, a former Moroto Municipality Member of Parliament, who has been serving as the NRM Vice Chairman for the Karamoja region since 2016. His untimely death has left a significant void in the party and the region, with many describing it as an irreplaceable loss.
A vigil will be held at the NRM party headquarters before Aleper's body is flown to Moroto for a special sitting on July 27th. He will be laid to rest on Tuesday, July 30th.
The NRM community continues to mourn the loss of their esteemed colleague, with many leaders paying tribute to Aleper's dedication and service.
