Archbishop Wokorach arrives in Gulu for installation

The new Archbishop of Gulu Archdiocese, the Right Reverend Raphael Wokorach, arrived at the archbishop's residence in Gulu City on Thursday evening.

Wokorach was welcomed by a jubilant sea of faithful and the Archbishop Emeritus John Baptist Odama.

With traditional dancers, thousands of people in Gulu City last evening took to the streets to welcome the new Archbishop of Gulu Archdiocese.

"Nebbi Diocese, thank you so much, thank you for bringing the new archbishop," said Odama.

Rev Fr Laurence Komakech, the chairperson organising committee of the function, said it has been a great task in preparation of the event and looking forward to the ceremony being a memorable occasion, filled with reverence and hope.

"He's now in his residence and has been warmly welcomed by the people, we now leave him to rest and looking forward to tomorrow, when he will be installed" said Fr Komakech said.

Archbishop Wokorach held a brief prayer with the jubilant faithful a few minutes after his arrival at the residence where he blessed the people.

"May God of love, God of Mercy, God of Joy bless and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and Of the Holy spirit," the former Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese said.

Gulu Resident City Commissioner Jane Frances Amongin thanked the security for providing safety to all the people who came to welcome the new archbishop.

She also pledged to provide utmost security ahead of installation ceremony due today.
