Mbwatekamwa: MP says not signing censure to pay back Ssekikubo
MP Mbwatekamwa Gaffabusa has not forgotten the snub from four years ago

Kasambya County MP Mbwatekamwa Gaffa will not sign the censure motion because the architect of the move to bring four parliament commissioners to their knees has to feel what he felt a few years ago.

Mbwatekamwa says there is no love lost with his friend Theodore Ssekikubo who he says refused to sign a censure motion he fronted against then Security minister Elly Tumwine.

"I wont sign this motion, am revenging because they refused to sign saying that they were heading into elections for fear that the General could give them hard time so let them feel the pinch," he said.

In February 2020, Mbwatekamwa started a process of censuring Tumwine - now deceased - for frustrating investigations into torture of Ugandans and also blocking MPs in the Human Rights Committee for doing their work.

He could only raise 57 signatures out of the 132 he needed at the time and he was frustrated that MPs like Ssekikubo excused themselves citing the approach to electoral period.

Now it is pay back time, the Kasambya legislator who is popularly known simply as 'Mbwa', says.

"Hon Ssekikubo called me yesterday and I told him I will not sign but will defend them when it comes on floor of Parliament," he said.

The legislator known for being a critic of government and and NRM rebel MP, rolled back the clock to his failed censure motion to dismiss allegations of bribery, saying the late was a shrewd and had planted spies all over Parliament.

"Out of the 132 signatures, I had got only got 57 and could he bribe me for only 57? That's baseless," Mbwatekamwa said.

Ssekikubo I seeking at least six more signatures to kick out backbench commissioners Solomon Silwany, Esther Afonyochan, Prossy Mbabazi and Mathias Mpuuga for negotiating and receiving Shs1.7 billion in total irregularly.
