Traders want me run for Lord Mayor seat, says KACITA's Sekito

Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) spokesperson, Issa Sekito, has said traders are urging him to run for the position of Lord Mayor of Kampala in the forthcoming elections.

Sekito made the revelation on Monday while appearing on Sanyuka Television.

The KACITA mouthpiece mentioned that the traders have consistently suggested him to consider running for either the Lord Mayor or MP for Kampala Central positions.

“I was in the field last week and asked the traders about the problems they're facing," he said.

"Remember we have to meet the President this month. However, they said there's nothing else I can do apart from standing for the MP Kampala Central and the Lord Mayor.”

He shared that while he has been gathering feedback from traders about their challenges in preparation for a meeting with the President, they have emphasized his potential candidacy for these two positions.

Without explicitly confirming his intentions to run for one of the positions, Sekito emphasised he possesses the necessary academic qualifications to run for both.

“I have the necessary academic qualifications and I can as well decide on that,” he said.

The current Kampala Lord Mayor and MP for Kampala Central are Elias Lukwago and Muhammad Nsereko, respectively.
