Uganda is safe for your business, UPDF chief reassures

The Chief of Joint Staff of the Uganda People's Defence Forces, Major-General Jackson Bakasumba, has reassured investors and the business community of safety for business and tourism during.

Maj Gen Bakasumba reiterated the assurance during discussions with the Italian Ambassador Mauro Massoni.

“The security of the country is very peaceful, and there is no cause for alarm,” Gen Bakasumba who was representing the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, said.

The bilateral meeting aimed to deepen cooperation between the two nations, focusing on training, equipment, and business ventures.

Commending Italy's support, Gen Bakasumba emphasised Uganda's commitment to stabilising Somalia despite not sharing a border.

“Our wish is to degrade Al-Shabaab and welcome tourists,” he said, acknowledging ongoing security challenges in Somalia.

Regarding the ADF, Gen Bakasumba noted their degradation and assured the safety of Queen Elizabeth Park following a recent incident in Kasese.

Amb Mauro Massoni pledged continued collaboration, underscoring the importance of their relationship and promising support for Uganda's development.

The Italian Defence Attaché to Uganda and other officials also attended the meeting, highlighting the significance of the discussions.
