Bugisu is mourning  the passing of Umukuka Emeritus Wilson Wamimbi, a revered figure and stalwart leader in the community.

Umukuka Wamimbi passed away on April 12 at 8pm at Kirudu Hospital in Kawempe.

He was 85 years old.

Throughout his life, Amb Wilson Wamimbi was a steadfast pillar, leaving an indelible mark on the cultural and political landscape of Bugisu.

Wamimbi's legacy is deeply woven into the fabric of Bugisu's history, having served as Mbale District Chairman in the 1990s and later representing Uganda as Ambassador to Canada.

His crowning achievement came in 2010 when he assumed the mantle as the inaugural cultural leader of the Bamasaba people, a position he held with dignity and distinction.

His departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who cherished him and a deep sense of loss in the Bugisu community.

Wepukhulu Edrisi Natsami, popularly known as Hajj Mandazi in Nabumali Town Council, remembers Wamimbi as a noble lwader of high stature of intergrity and a unifiyer.

In honor of his remarkable life and contributions, burial rites are scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024, in his ancestral home in Busano, Mbale District.

As Bugisu bids farewell to a beloved leader, the enduring legacy of Umukuka Emeritus Wilson Wamimbi will continue to inspire generations to come.
