Police in Koboko has mounted a hunt for a prime suspect who stole a twin boy from Koboko Hospital in Central Cell, Apa ward, South Division Koboko Municipality Koboko district.

It's alleged that on the fateful day, an unidentified woman stole the newly born baby boy belonging to  Afekuru Baifa, a resident of Maracha district.

The incident happened when the mother of the baby had just returned from the theater after a Caesarean section where she gave births to a boy and girl.

According to the West Nile regional Police spokesperson Josephine Angucia, inquiries indicate that, an unidentified woman, pretending to be one of the attendants in the ward, volunteered to help the mother of the twins.

As her attendant one Chandiru Beatrice and the midwife Drateru Hella went out of the ward, the suspect  ran away with the boy as the mother was unconscious at the time.

The attendant  who was also the sister in-law of the mother of the twins registered a case of theft of the  baby under Koboko CPS Reference 39/29/03/2024.

Angucia said police have intensified the hunt and appealed to the general public to join in the search for the newly born baby boy in their neighborhoods and villages.
