As Muslims commence the fasting of the holy month of Ramadan, the Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in charge of East African Affairs, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, has advocated for the provision of iftar meals in mosques across the Busoga region.

She announced that she successfully negotiated with her Turkish associates to supply iftar meals for breaking the fast during Ramadan in all mosques throughout Busoga.

Kadaga made this announcement during a poignant speech delivered at a thanksgiving ceremony honouring the outstanding performance of students at Luwangula College of Science for the academic year 2023.

Luwangula College of Science, located in Bukafuga village, Namwendwa Town Council, Kamuli Local Government District, encompasses nursery, primary, and secondary sections. The establishment of these schools was spearheaded by the Luwangula family, to which Prof. Dr. Muhammadi Lubega Kisambira, the National Chairperson of UMSC (Uganda Muslim Supreme Council), belongs.

The event was attended by esteemed dignitaries, including the Katukiro (Prime Minister) of the Busoga Kingdom, Prof. Dr. Joseph Muvawala.

Hadji Abbas Ssekyanzi Muluubya, the Secretary General of UMSC, expressed gratitude to the Luwangula family for their significant contributions to education, particularly highlighting their initiative to construct a mosque within the school compound for the spiritual well-being of students.

He underscored the importance of education as a central element of UMSC's ten-year Strategic Development Plan and urged parents to prioritize their children's education.

Prof. Dr. Joseph Muvawala also delivered impactful speeches, encouraging attentive parents and the broader Busoga community to intensify efforts in educating their children, especially in institutions like Luwangula that offer affordable and accessible quality education.
