Frustrated locals in Bugiri have planted yams and plantains in major roads in protest against the appalling state of roads in their area.
The locals say many roads have turned impassable with authorities in the area decrying lack of resources to address the situation.

Of particular concern is the 28km road linking Bugiri to Namutumba District where motorists frequently find themselves stranded for days due to the horrible conditions.
This dire situation has ignited a wave of protest among the community, culminating in the symbolic act of planting banana stems in the middle of the road to highlight their grievances.
"We are planting these yams and banana stems because the roads looks like a garden," Jamal Mukuve, a resident of Naigaga, said.
The dire state of infrastructure extends beyond this critical route, with the Bugiri to Bugobi road in Nabukalu Town Council suffering similar issues.
Additionally, the Naluwerere-Muwayo to Butaleja road presents its own set of challenges, after the Kibimba swamp overflowed flooding the road.
Here, locals are forced to pay between Shs1,000 and Shs3,000 for assistance in crossing.
In his response the Bugiri LCV Chairman, James Mulumba, acknowledged the pressing issue of inadequate resources hindering efforts to address the crumbling road infrastructure.
"I am contemplating closing some roads like the one of Naluwerere-Buluguyi road which is life-threatening yet we have no plans to construct it soon due to financial constraints," he said.
